Make Old School Runescape Gold from Mort’ton Guides

Date:

To fully unlock the Old School Runescape Mort’ton chunk, we need to complete the Shades of Mort’ton quest, which requires 15 Herblore. Therefore, we need to work on our Herblore level, which can be done by farming herbs. While herb farming is not a quick training method, it can be profitable in the long run.

Leveling up construction
Before starting herb farming, let’s invest our 1.3 million OSRS GP into leveling up our construction. With 50 construction levels, we can build a chapel and an altar in our house, which will allow us to restore prayer quickly and teleport directly to Edgeville. This will save us a lot of time during our Barrows runs.

To level up construction, we need oak planks. We can buy oak logs and use a sawmill to turn them into planks or buy them directly from the Grand Exchange. We recommend building oak larders all the way to level 47 construction, as they require the most planks.

Once we reach 45 construction, we can build a chapel and an altar. The altar will allow us to restore our prayer quickly, while the chapel will serve as a decoration. When we reach 47 construction, we can build a mounted glory, which will allow us to teleport directly to Edgeville.

To improve our Barrows runs further, we recommend purchasing the Strange Old Lock Pick from the Barrows minigame for 150,000 GP. It comes with 50 charges, and each charge can unlock any door within the Barrows crypt. This will save us a lot of time during our runs.

Obtain the Flame Tar Bag
Unfortunately, you can no longer get the Flame Tar Bag from Bronze Keys. Instead, buy Olive Oil from the Grand Exchange and use the Shades of Mort’ton mini-game to turn it into Sacred Oil. To participate in the mini-game, repair the building using Timber Beams and Limestone Bricks, which can be thrown into your Flame Tar Bag. Reinforce the wall by clicking “reinforce,” and your character will slowly reinforce the wall. You will see your sanctity percentage go up as you repair the building.

Convert Olive Oil to Sacred Oil
Use the Sacred Oil on the fire in the Mort’ton temple to convert Olive Oil to Sacred Oil. Each time you use Olive Oil in the fire, you will lose a bit of sanctity, but Sacred Oil is worth about 2,000 each. It takes some time to convert Olive Oil to Sacred Oil, but it’s worth it.

Make Sacred Oil
After crafting Sacred Oil for about an hour, you can create about 390 Sacred Oils and gain about 10,000 crafting experiences. Although it’s not an excellent crafting training method, you can sell all of the Sacred Oil instantly for 2,000 each, giving you 770k in profit.

Burn Shade Remains
To access most of the shades in the Shade Catacombs, you need to burn Shader Mains. Burning Shader Mains requires Firemaking levels. Level up your Firemaking skill to level 50 to access the lower-level Shades. However, to access the highest-level Shade, which gives the most money, you need 80 Firemaking levels.

Get a Key to the Asian Shade Room
To access the Asian Shade Room, you need a Black Key. You can get a Black Key from the Grand Exchange or from monsters in the Shade Catacombs.

Get the Broken Coffin
Obtain the Broken Coffin from Damp Y. You can use the coffin to store Shade Remains and double your inventory space.

Attach the Gold Lock
Attach a Gold Lock to the Broken Coffin to store more Shade Remains. You can buy Gold Locks from the Grand Exchange.

Make OSRS Gold
Use Shade Remains to Make OSRS Gold. Acid Remains, which require 35 Firemaking levels, is a good option to start with. They’re not popular content, but they are profitable. Burn the Shade Remains and collect the drops to make GP.
