A widespread conspiracy claims that four artificial intelligence robots attacked and killed 29 people. On the other hand, there is no record of it ever occurring in Japan.
Some people in the United States and elsewhere in the world continue to believe that this is actual news, even though the vast majority know this is not real news. This alleged incident, which took place at a top robotics company in Japan and involved four robots attacking scientists or lab staff, was never publicized as a news story.
A well-known journalist reported these supposed passings for spreading conspiracy theories. No reputable news organization has confirmed this.
Where did it start?
Who started saying that robots killed humans in Japan? During a discussion at the Los Angeles Conscious Life Expo in December 2018, Linda Moulton Howe, a journalist known for spreading conspiracy theories, warned that AI threatens humanity. A Facebook post that featured a clip of the exhibition film gained traction online. Howe recounts an incident in which four AI robots are blamed for the deaths of 29 scientists at a Japanese lab. During her expo session, Howe told receiving a call from a man claiming to work as a contractor for the CIA, the NSA, and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
She continues by saying that the ex-marine told her that the robots attacked the scientists by firing metal bullets at them. Even though the scientists turned off some of the robots, those left to regenerate themselves quickly got back online.
Is it true?
No reputable sources have reported seeing any proof of this attack. She provides no context or details in her account, such as the researchers’ names, the laboratory’s location, or the purported event’s date. Howe’s assertion is based on hearsay since no official pronouncements or records of these purported deaths by any reputable source exists.
Now, after countless shares on the internet, the fact-checking firm Snopes has produced a report labeling Linda’s account as untrue. Her presentation was about the dangers of artificial intelligence and alien encounters, and she concluded by saying that humans may be the advanced AI creations of an alien race. According to Snopes, the massacre story seemed to act as an attention-grabber for her presentation.
Snopes identifies several flaws in the massacre narrative that support their judgment that it is a hoax. To begin, the tale does not include any specifics. Linda does not disclose the origin of her information, the name of the factory where the claimed massacre took place, or any of the identities of the scientists who were purportedly killed in the incident. Second, Linda asserts that the government hushed up the attack, but according to Snopes, there is no report of scientists going missing, even if the robot part of the attack was concealed. A surprising turn of events concludes Linda’s tale. She retells the same account in an interview, but this time she claims that her source did not see the deaths and instead told her a story he had heard. She claims that her source was telling her a story he had heard.
However, in recent times, it has been brought up as an illustration of incorrect information that originated in the United States. In Japan, there is no record of the event ever being reported. As of the year 2022, the overwhelming majority of people in Japan remain utterly clueless about the shooting incident that took place.
Final Thoughts
At the very least, there is no evidence to support this version of events, which asserts that artificial intelligence robots were responsible for the deaths of scientists in Japan.
