Introducing TCAS: A New Way to Study at Thai Universities
TCAS (Thai University Central Admission System) is a central selection system for people to study in higher education institutions. TCAS has started to replace the traditional entrance exam, also known as Admission since the academic year 2018 and has been used continuously until now. TCAS provides an opportunity for Thai students and international students who have completed their secondary education overseas or outside of Thailand in countries with TCAS agreements to apply directly without having to take TCAS exams. TCAS is a central, national entrance system where higher education institutions of all types and levels participate. TCAS operates on the basis of an agreement between participating Thai universities or colleges and international schools with TCAS agreements to hold examinations for admission directly from students who have completed their secondary education overseas or outside Thailand.
TCAT uses only Thai language while TCEE uses English as its language. The first step in applying through TCAS is that you must ensure your school has joined this program by checking “YES” next to “Thai university” which will appear on your official transcript it you go to TCAS participating schools. The primary feature of TCAS is that it allows students to attend colleges of their own choosing. While still being able to sit in class until graduation, “each kid has only one right to accept the university,” thus preventing them from keeping their right to choose. With a system that features numerous choices and rounds, students may study early and take the entrance exam, which is compared to the previous test run. The more time and money it saves over time.
