I Didn’t Expect to Love the Essentials Hoodie — But Here We Are

Date:

Let me be clear: I don’t write about clothes. I don’t usually care about labels. But I’ve gotta talk about this Essentials Hoodie and Essentials Tracksuit because I didn’t expect to care, and now I wear them pretty much all the time.

Here’s the story.

It Started With One Hoodie

I was scrolling one night (as you do), saw a post on Reddit about “the best hoodies worth the money,” and kept seeing people bring up the Essentials Hoodie. I was skeptical. Looked kind of plain to me. But I needed a decent hoodie — something warm, minimal, not too loud — and I figured I’d give it a shot.

So I bought one. Black. Size medium.

When it came in, I tried it on right away — and no joke, it just fit. The weight of it? Heavier than expected, but not bulky. It kind of just sits right on your shoulders. The cuffs don’t stretch out, the hood has actual shape (not that floppy thing a lot of hoodies do), and the inside? Soft, but not that weird, fuzzy soft that sheds everywhere.

I wore it for like four days in a row.

Then Came the Tracksuit

A few weeks later, I was like, screw it — I’ll try the joggers too. I was already reaching for the hoodie every other morning, so why not complete the set?

So I got the Essentials Tracksuit in the same color, figuring I could mix and match.

I didn’t expect to actually wear the full set together, but… yeah. I do. A lot.

The joggers are a nice surprise. Tapered but not tight, the waistband is comfortable, and they don’t sag weirdly in the back like some cheaper sweats do. They feel structured, not sloppy — like you could wear them out and not feel like you’re in PJs.

And I do wear them out. All the time. Grocery runs, grabbing coffee, even on flights. It just works. No logos screaming at you, no flashy zippers or panels. Just clean, simple stuff that fits well and feels good.

Why Do I Keep Wearing This?

Here’s the thing. I’m not trying to be stylish. I just want clothes that don’t annoy me — stuff that feels good when I’m sitting on my couch, but still looks decent if I have to run out the door.

The Essentials Hoodie and Essentials Tracksuit are exactly that. Reliable. Comfortable. No fuss.

I’ve washed both pieces a bunch of times now. Still holding up. No pilling. No fading. No weird shrinking.

And for someone like me, who’s not into trends and doesn’t like dressing up unless I have to — that kind of durability matters.

Do I Recommend It?

Honestly? Yeah.

It’s not “cheap,” but I’ve bought enough $40 hoodies that fall apart after two months to know it’s worth spending a little more for something better. And this set is better.

The Essentials Tracksuit makes me feel like I tried, even when I didn’t. The hoodie is my default now. I’m even thinking of grabbing a second color.

If you’re the kind of person who wants something simple, clean, and not flashy — something you can throw on without thinking — then the Essentials Hoodie and Essentials Tracksuit are a solid choice.

Final Word

This isn’t some overhyped “you need this in your life” review. I’m just a regular guy who bought a hoodie and joggers and ended up liking them more than I expected.

I still don’t care much about fashion. But I care about stuff that lasts, stuff that fits, and stuff that doesn’t make me look like I gave up on life.

And honestly? These two pieces check all those boxes.

So yeah. That’s it.
