Appeal to the Eye

For a customer to be attracted to your food display, you have to develop retail display ideas that are aesthetically appealing to the eye.

Don’t cram shelves with products. It can be overwhelming to the eye and the consumer, to the point where they’re less likely to buy your product. You should also alternate colors so that your products aren’t getting visually lost when people are looking at them.

Placement

When it comes to retail shelf placement, you should be putting just as much thought into this as the display itself. Pay attention to where and how you’re placing products.

Placing things on a low shelf should be reserved for items that consumers buy regardless of price or visual appeal. Meanwhile, items placed high on shelves may seem more desirable, but they’ll also be past eye level, which can mean they get looked over.

Items placed on the center of shelves at eye level are perfect for new products or things people would be likely to purchase because of convenience or impulse.

Promotional products, such as items on sale, should be placed on end caps or separate tables to draw attention. Sales are a great way to entice bargain buyers and people who have always wanted to try your product but didn’t necessarily want to buy it full-priced.

Produce Eye-Catching Displays

You have many types of food displays, such as attention-grabbing meat case dividers or produce signs.

Creating eye-catching displays not only increases sales but can increase loyal customers. Your product is defined and distinguishable in the store, and that attracts repeat customers.

Offer Samples

Offering samples to customers elicits a sense of reciprocity. Now that they’ve received something from you, they’re more inclined to give back. For you, this means more sales.

The key is to give them a free sample of a product you want to promote or increase sales for. If you have a product that does well and sells out constantly, there isn’t as much of a need to provide samples.

Samples allow your customers to try something new that they may not want to spend their own money on. If they try it and find they like it, they’ll be more inclined to show your support because you gave them the chance to decide on their terms.
