Last year I was so confused with How to Use iFHMS (Integrated Financial and Human Resource Management System). The first time I opened it, I just closed the laptop and went for tea. I felt like crying! But now? I finish my salary slip, leave application, everything in ten minutes. So today I am sharing what actually worked for me. Hope it helps you too.
What is iFHMS Anyway?
It’s the Tamil Nadu government’s online portal where we do everything – check salary, apply for leave, see service book, update family details, apply for loans. No more running to the office with files.
Step-by-Step: How I Log In (Without Getting Angry)
- Open your browser. Type ifhrms.tn.gov.in
- You’ll see two options – Employee Login and Others. Click Employee Login.
- Enter your User ID. It’s usually your GPF number or CPS number. Still confused? Check your latest payslip – it’s written there.
- First time? Password is your date of birth in DDMMYYYY format. Example: if you were born on 15th August 1985, type 15081985
- It will ask you to change the password immediately. Do it. Choose something you’ll remember (I added my daughter’s name and year).
Feeling relieved already? I was smiling the day I finally logged in.
Dashboard – Don’t Panic, It’s Friendly
After login you’ll see many buttons. Don’t click everything at once like I did the first day! Just breathe.
Things We Use the Most
1. Salary Slip Self Service → Salary Details → Pay Slip → Choose month → Download PDF. Done. I keep them in one folder on my phone now.
2. Apply for Leave Self Service → Leave → Apply Leave Pick dates → Choose type (CL, EL, medical) → Write reason in one line → Submit. Your DEO gets it instantly. No more “Madam, file is with sir” drama.
3. Income Tax Statement Self Service → Income Tax → Form 16 or Tax Statement. March-April tension gone!
4. Update Family Details or Nominee Employee Profile → Family & Nominee Details. Very important after marriage or when baby arrives.
5. Service Book View Just go to Reports → Service Register. Everything is there – your joining date, promotions, punishments (hope nothing there!).
Common Problems & What Saved Me
- “Session expired” again and again? Use Chrome browser only. Clear cache once a week.
- Forgot password? Click “Forgot Password”, enter User ID and registered mobile number. OTP comes.
- Page loading slow? Close all tabs, use 4G or office Wi-Fi. Village network sometimes cries with iFHMS.
- Mobile se try kar rahe ho? Download “iFHMS Mobile” app from Play Store. Same login.
