Serve cake pops at your next get together.
I have previously written about how to bake cakes in cake mixes. Although cakes in a box are a great start, I find that there is so much to learn once you want to explore homemade cake mixes. A cake pop is a mini cake made from scratch. This recipe will help you learn to bake a cake pop that looks beautiful, tastes great and makes you happy every time you bite into it.
Homemade cake pop recipe
To make a cake pop recipe, you need to melt a large quantity of chocolate chips and spread them on a baking tray. In the microwave, microwave 1 cup of chopped vanilla cake mix for 2 minutes and then microwave the remaining for 1 minute 30 seconds. Scoop the melted chocolate chips onto the tray and leave the tray in the fridge for 10 minutes.
When the chocolate is cool, add icing sugar to the cake mix and stir well. For dipping, cut vanilla wafers into quarters and place them in a bowl of iced water. Dip the vanilla wafers into the icing sugar and then place the dipped wafers onto the tray.
Fold the vanilla wafers into the cake mix and then place into the fridge for an hour.
In another bowl, mix the milk chocolate and melted chocolate chips well. Dip your dipped vanilla wafers into the chocolate and place into the fridge for 10 minutes. Dip the wafers again and place in the fridge for 10 minutes. Repeat this process twice.
When the chocolate is firm, remove the vanilla wafers from the fridge and cut them into equal sized pieces and place on top of the cake pop sticks. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius or until the wafers have melted completely.
Mix the sprinkles and cocoa powder for a festive look. If you prefer a cake pop with a smooth chocolate exterior, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in the chocolate and microwave for 1 minute and 15 seconds.
