How to curb alcohol on your own?

A lot of people these days are taking concerns regarding their alcohol intake. They try their best to control it so that they can lead a healthy life. 

There have been a lot of instances where one had to have medical attention because of their addiction. A lot of alcohol rehabilitation centre in Pune have come up but those are mostly for extreme addiction cases. No matter what, if one wants to curb it, they must consult a doctor first because they can decide whether one must abstain it or lower their alcohol intake amount. But it is always said that if one is under medical treatment or in a mental health issue then they must stop drinking completely.

A lot of people can have a better life by simply cutting back. In fact, if one can follow a few changes and take them seriously then they can easily cut it before it turns into an addiction.

  • First of all, one must set a drinking goal. One must set a limit on how much they drink if they have a habit of drinking regularly. According to medical studies it should be just one standard drink per day for women and for men who are more than of 60 years of age. But for men who are below 60 it should be not more than 2 standard drinks. But again, a doctor can decide better which can be the best for you. They will also check if one has any other underlying medical conditions or not.
  • One can keep a diary for drinking. By doing this, one can keep a track to their drinking habit every 2 to 3 weeks. One must include there every detailed information about their drinking habits and then compare it to the goal what they have set. Then they can really find out whether they are anywhere nearer to achieve their goal or not. If one sees that they are facing issues to achieve that goal after certain time then they must consult a doctor and seek their help.
  • Not keeping alcohol at home can be a great idea if one is trying to curb it. If one wants to drink alcohol then they have to step out and then drink and thus it will automatically curb the drinking habit.
  • One must drink slowly. Sip the drink and take time to finish one drink. One must drink water or juice after they finish their drink. One should never drink in an empty stomach.
  • If one is a regular drinker then they must try and decide on not drinking at least 2 days a week. If it is possible one can also try to abstain from alcohol for a month and see how they are feeling emotionally and physically when they are not drinking. Also one must start saying no to drinking when they are in a social gathering.
