First , measure the current of the single LED module.
Let’s take the P10-4S outdoor LED display module as an example and explain how to measure the current parameters of the module step by step.
Step one:prepare equipment and items
We have prepared several P10-4S outdoor LED display modules, a multimeter (measurable DC current within 10A), several wires, electrical tape, stripping pliers, LED display control card, LED display power supply.
step two: connect correctly.
In this measurement experiment, we use the multimeter as a DC ammeter. The maximum range of DC current measured by the universal metre is 10A. We connect the multimeter in series to the circuit of the LED module, and the specific wiring order is:
1. The input end of AC 220V LED power supply (equivalent to the function of transformer, output 220V AC transformer to 5V DC)
2. Connect a line from the output end to the red line pen of the multimeter (positive)
3. Red wire plug in the red “10A” hole on the multimeter
4. Black wire pen to the red line of the module power line (positive)
5. The power cord of the module is normally plugged into the module.
6. The black line (negative) of the module power cord is connected back to the negative electrode at the output end of the LED power supply.
Step three:measure the reading
We see that when the input power outlet is plugged in and the whole LED display is lit up, the single module current is not very large. With the change of the playback content, the reading on the multimeter is also fluctuating, basically maintaining 1-2A. The specific video can be viewed:
We press the test key on the control card to switch the status of the screen to get the following experimental data:
1. ” The current of “all white” is the largest, about 5.8A.
2. The current is 3.3A in both red and green states.
3. The current is 2.0A in the blue state.
4. When the content of the program is played back to normal, the current fluctuates between 1-2A.
Second, according to the measurement results, it is calculated that an LED power supply can carry several LED modules.
The specific calculation method is: each LED power supply is essentially a transformer. Taking the 200W power supply we commonly use as an example, the manufacturer gives the load parameter as “output 5V40A” and “the effective conversion rate is 88%”. We are based on
the calculation shows that when the LED module with load does not exceed 6, the LED power supply is not overloaded.The current we calculate is the maximum current when the LED module is all white, and the working current during normal playback is often only 1/3-1/2 of the maximum current, so the number of load calculated according to the maximum current is the number of seat belt loads.
