How do I Set up a Google Conference Call?

With Coronavirus ruling the world these days, we all are in search of a conference calling software to manage our jobs from home. Some may need it to join online classes while others may need it for business meetings and so on. Moreover, with a number of options available on the internet, it can be quite confusing to select the one that suitably fits all your needs.

One such conference calling tool that stands way above the rest is Google Voice. Yes! Conference calls using Google voice are more convenient and handy than you can ever assume. It has all the features that must be there to enjoy a good quality call. Lets know how you can get started with Google Conference Call.

Setting Up Conference Call with Google Voice

Before anything, make sure you have a Google account and a Smartphone/tablet/computer/laptop that has the Google Voice app installed. There are two options available that are- to get the app downloaded for your device or use the desktop version. Also, make sure you have access to a strong network as you will not want to get dropped out of the conversation in the middle.

Once you meet the requirements and have a Google account, you can start using Google voice the right way. Have a look at the steps:

  1. Visit the official webpage of Google Voice and choose one out of ‘Business Use’ or ‘Personal Use’.
  2. If you choose the personal one, you will further get three options i.e. Android, iOS or Web. If you are already using it on your phone, you will be directed towards the app download link or otherwise the sign up page of software.
  3. Now, if you are using it for business, you will be allowed to get started with it directly.
  4. Press ‘Continue’ to agree to the terms of service and privacy policy of Google Voice.
  5. Enter your city or area code to get a phone number assigned to you.
  6. Get the current number verified using the ‘Verify’ button.
  7. Next, enter a number to link to your account where the incoming calls will be forwarded and click on ‘Send Code’.
  8. Enter the code and click on ‘Verify’ to confirm.
  9. Press ‘Claim’ to confirm the call forwarding and the click the ‘Finish’ option to end the set up process.
  10. Open your Google Voice account by clicking on ‘Finish’ again.

Once you are done setting up the account, here are the steps to be followed to get started with three-way calling using Google Voice:

  1. You will need to inform all the participants in advance to make a call at the fixed time. Either you can make a call to any of them or let one person call you.
  2. Once you are on the call, the next step is to start adding other participants when they dial your number. Accept the call when you get an alert and press 5 to make a conference call.
  3. You can even record a call if you want to store something important using the record option from the settings under incoming call options.
  4. All the contact will be added to the conference call.
  5. Also, remember that if you will record the call, other members will receive an alert when the recording will start and end.

The free account of Google Voice app lets you add 10 participants while with free you can add 25 at the same time.
