Cisco certification system is launched by Cisco, a famous manufacturer in the network field. It is an international authoritative certification series in the field of Internet. From primary to expert level, there are CCNA, CCNP and CCIE certification.
In terms of value of Cisco certificates, different people have different views. I would like to talk about my opinion from the help of certification to most people’s career development.
CCNA certification involves mostly conceptual and cognitive things of technology, and few of which can be really applied to enterprise projects.

So network engineers stay at the level of CCNP certification. Generally speaking, at this stage of CCNP certification, the depth, applicability and comprehensiveness of the technology have begun to increase. And engineers also began to learn where and how to use the technology. But why are you not advised to apply for CCNP certification?
Because so far, Cisco still has the rule that “you should pass the CCNA certification exam before taking part in the CCNP certification” (of course, it will be reformed after February 2020). The exam fees of CCNA and CCNP certification are almost enough to obtain the CCIE certificate. Steel should be added on the blade, money to spend on the way is. In terms of cost performance, taking the CCNP certification exam is not a smart practice.
Finally, whether the expert level CCIE certification[click for view] is useful is now controversial. Why? Because the training fee and exam fee of CCIE certification is almost 3,333 US dollars, and the learning process is still so painful and tangled. People may wish that they could hear such words from others, “CCIE certificate is useless”, or “the salary is still 500 US dollars a month after taking the CCIE certification exam” and so on. No matter whether these words are true or false, at least they make a perfect excuse for people’s laziness and lack of effort. “I don’t study because it’s really useless.”
But what is the actual situation? People with technology, ability and experience are always striving hard and quietly. They can earn an annual salary of 50,000 US dollars and don’t care about whatever others say. On the contrary, network practitioners without technology, ability, certificate or experience clamored everywhere that “God treats me unfairly” and “CCIE certificate can’t save me”
Seeing that many people are not optimistic about CCIE certification and network engineers, I just want to say that CCIE certification is still what it has been. The technical depth of the technical system is still there, and what is lacking is only the IT talents who deserve the name and trained in a down-to-earth manner.
Let’s look at the social recognition. CCIE certificate has become a stepping stone for each network engineer. It must be better to have CCIE certificate than not. In the future, CCIE certificate holders will certainly have broader promotion channels and more salary increase opportunities than those who don’ pass CCIE certification. But remember that certificates only increase the probability of obtaining fair social treatment and satisfying material conditions. For example, people without CCIE certificate may get a promotion, but the chance is only 5%. While the chance of those with CCIE certificate can increase to 50%;
The important idea of network engineers is to improve their own technical level and take advantage of opportunities to accumulate experience. Even small projects and experiments should be done, adjusted and matched. Only in this way can we have the opportunity to obtain the configuration permission of the core computer room in the near future, and have the opportunity to enter the favorite big factory to be a real “engineer”! Persistence, hard work and striving will never be wrong.
