What is cannabis(RSO)?

Cannabis is made up of over a hundred elements. The first and among the most important are phytocannabinoids: the cannabinoids naturally present in the plant. CBD, a component of cannabis

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that is of increasing interest to medical research which sees in the latter a new approach and serious therapeutic avenues, especially for certain diseases that conventional medicine has difficulty in treating or with heavy side effects for the patient. The effects of CBD are varied, sometimes poorly understood, and sometimes opposite depending on the dosage. The relaxing and anti-inflammatory effects, among others, are undeniable if we are to believe the testimonies and scientific studies. CBD, as a reminder, is not prohibited in France or Europe is not psychoactive and does not cause a feeling of euphoria or addiction. The World Health Organization (WHO) has already classified CBD among non-harmful substances, and it is not a doping substance either ( withdrawn from substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency .)

A direct natural component of the cannabis plant, CBD is consumed in different ways, but not all forms are created equal. In the form of a drink or an infusion, it is also possible to consume CBD in the form of an oil to leave under the tongue. It is also its most famous derivative, the most appreciated and the most effective in terms of effects. However, the properties of CBD are still poorly understood and although some of its effects are scientifically proven, many studies are still needed to understand its mechanisms of action on many pathologies.

CBD is ultimately only one component among many others of cannabis, with a therapeutic interest and without risks related to the psychoactive character. Derivatives are also consumed more and more in the USA and France, starting with CBD oil. Several questions often come up on the table, notably concerning the real effects of CBD oil but also its differences from cannabis oil. We take stock.

Cannabis oil extracted with CO2

Cannabis oil producers can extract oil from the plant, via a “supercritical” technique using CO2. A clean technique that requires no solvents, which preserves the elements naturally present in cannabis. Supercritical CO2 extraction involves treating its carbon dioxide by heating it and pressurizing it until it is in a half-liquid, half-gaseous state. High temperatures can, however, have a direct impact on certain components of the cannabis plant, such as terpenes.

It is also possible to make cannabis oil, by performing an ethanol-based extraction. This technique involves soaking cannabis flowers in ethanol. This process makes it possible to recover the extract of the plant, including cannabinoids, in alcohol, which will then have to be heated, to evaporate the alcohol, and keep only the plant elements. This extraction process is relatively cost-effective but presents risks associated with the ethanol residue in cannabis oil.
