Guanyin Mountain Walk in Tai Hang, Taichung

The Dakeng Guanyin Mountain Trail, also known as the South Guanyin Mountain, is less than 1 km long and can reach the top of the mountain in about half an hour. Overlooking the landscape of the Dakeng Scenic Area, the starting point and ending point are full of fairy and Buddha colors. The giant Guan Yin Statue and Buddha’s hand are like shining on the world.

Located in Beitun District, Taichung City, Nanguanyin Mountain, with an altitude of 190~318 meters, is one of the small mountains in Taiwan. It is adjacent to the Great Pit Circle, and is the back mountain of the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The surrounding traffic is convenient, and the environment is quiet and quiet. The landscape changes with the edge of the trail. The giant Buddha’s hand at the mountaineering entrance and the solemn Guanyin statue on the top of the mountain are the characteristics of the trail. You can overlook the city view of Taichung and visit the Jade Buddha Temple on the way, It is a good place for local residents to walk, exercise and visit.

The way of the mountain

There are several lines to walk on the South Guanyin Mountain trail. The shortest and fastest way to and from the Buddha Arch is to climb the top in 30 minutes. And it is estimated that the back and forth can be grasped within an hour.

However, there is an uphill ladder behind this section. Although there is a steep slope, it will not be too long. It is very challenging. Novice can walk slowly to train their feet. It is recommended to carry a climbing stick to assist and wear walking shoes or cloth shoes with good grip.

The South Guanyin Mountain Footpath is located at 129 Line Road, near the Dakeng Circle. It starts from the mountaineering entrance next to the bronze statue of Buddha’s hand. The starting point is steep. The stone steps retain the original natural mountain path.

There are natural landscapes along the way. The trail winds between the acacia trees and bamboo forests on both sides. Although there is no special scenery to look down, you can still enjoy different landforms.

The end point will pass through a huge Buddha arch, as if the Buddha is waving to everyone. And passing through the golden finger is like being touched by the Buddha.

Jade Buddha Temple in Guanyin Mountain

After climbing to the top, another peaceful place was the Jade Buddha Temple in Guanyin Mountain.

The Jade Buddha Temple at Guanyin Mountain has been built for more than 30 years to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva.

Outside the temple, there is a huge statue of the Queen Mother of Avalokitesvara. The golden body, like the light of the sun and the moon, stands on the top of the mountain of Avalokitesvara, hence its name.

There is also a special “Star Saint Angel” sculpture outside the temple. it was created by the local leader of the Maitreya Royal Church of the universe with unique and conspicuous shape.

In addition to clocking in at the third-class triangle point, you can also hold the mountaineering card with the “Star Saint Angel” pattern. Take photos and punch in the card online. And you can go to the temple counter to receive the Guanyin Memorial Badge.

Although the Jade Buddha Temple does not cover a large area, the magnificent buildings are solemn. It is worth staying here to enjoy.

Climbing on the lookout tower of the Prince Sakyamuni Tower, the view in front of you is endless. It makes you feel comfortable. The mountain top is perfect in both day and night.

In front of the temple, there is a series of stone sculptures of gods. Including Sakyamuni Buddha, the Lord of Land, the Lord of Wealth, the Lord of Guan and other gods.
