Google Assistant Community Rolls-out Ambient Mode for Android Devices

Google Assistant ambient mode for Android Devices was announced by Google in early September at IFA 2019. During the initial days of the announcement, the Google Assistant ambient mode feature was limited to smart displays. Whenever these devices are plugged in, locked or unlocked, Google Assistant Ambient Mode instantly displays notifications, images from one’s Google Photos albums, automated controls for smartphone devices, date reminders and so on.
Google Assistant ambient mode is handy for Android users as it allows them to control their smart homes, access calendar items, play music, see notifications and Google photos. When the ambient mode becomes dimmed or inactive, it displays images from your Google photo album.
It has taken only a few months for Google Assistant ambient mode feature to outreach other Android devices such as Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and POCO Phone F1.

- First, go to your Android device Settings
- Then, find Display > Advanced settings
- Now, tap Ambient mode display option
- Tap Always On while charging to activate it
If you’re using Android 9 or 10 devices, the process is slightly different.
- First, go to your Android device Settings
- Then, go to Assistant Settings
- After that, say “Hey Google”
- Lastly, find a toggle to activate or deactivate the Ambient mode
