Arup Roy, the acclaimed architect of the Indian gaming industry, has emerged triumphant from his humble beginnings. Born into a lower-middle-class family, Mr. Roy, alongside his three siblings, attended the modest Barrackpore Municipality School for his primary education. In his pursuit to fulfill his father’s dream, he embarked on a journey to complete his graduation in B.Com Honours, while simultaneously satisfying his mother’s aspiration for him to study at the esteemed Government College of Art & Craft. This journey was not without challenges, but Roy’s indomitable spirit and love for the struggle propelled him forward. Additionally, he also understood that true success is derived from the efforts that are invested in achieving one’s goals.
Passion For Innovation
Even from a young age, Mr. Roy possessed an insatiable passion for sports. In an era when video games were scarce, he engaged in physical sports activities, nurturing his love for games. As his professional career took shape, he pondered ways to maintain his connection to the world of games. Mr. Roy’s opportunity materialized when an e-learning company proposed the creation of 20 mini-games. Although this proposal was rejected by the other employees due to the complexity of the project, Mr. Roy got the opportunity to complete the whole project seeing his high potential and dedication by the company. Determined to complete the project and to showcase his talent, he successfully completed the project, marking the beginning of his journey in the gaming industry. Mr. Roy ventured into game development as a freelancer, ultimately establishing Red Apple Technologies Pvt Ltd.
While building Red Apple Technologies, Mr. Roy faced the monumental challenge of juggling his responsibilities at his existing job while nurturing his own company. The demanding schedule left him working tirelessly, often putting in hours around the clock. Red Apple Technologies, which began with just two employees in Delhi in 2010, has now blossomed into a workforce of over 200 talented professionals. Mr. Roy attributes the company’s success to the unwavering dedication and hard work of his responsible employees. This trust allows him to focus on the broader aspects of the business, confident that every team member is fully committed to overcoming challenges.
Journey of Success
When asked to elucidate the journey of almost a decade of Red Apple Technologies Mr. Roy said “Our journey in the game development space started with our first 3D car racing game, ‘Drafting King,’ in 2012. By 2017, we had the exciting opportunity to collaborate with renowned global brands such as Disney, L&T, Byus’s and many more. We developed VR-based training apps that enhanced employees’ core competencies, enabling businesses to thrive using advanced techniques, including virtual reality, augmented reality, and blockchain. Presently, we are working on trending technology like Metaverse to ensure industries derive the best outcomes.” Till date Red Apple has launched more than 500 projects through more than 100 national and international clientele.

Determined to create a robust resource pool and provide employment opportunities for the talented individuals of India, he established Red Apple Learning—an educational institute aimed at addressing this challenge. He envisions spreading awareness about the prosperous opportunities that lie within the gaming industry. His mission is to ensure that talented individuals from Eastern India no longer need to seek opportunities elsewhere, as he aspires to create a vast array of prospects for them within the region.
Looking ahead, as for the future of the company, Mr. Roy envisions Red Apple Technologies evolving into an end-to-end business-oriented company beyond its current service-oriented approach. With plans to launch new products, the company anticipates substantial growth, aiming for at least a five-fold increase. Simultaneously, Red Apple Learning will transform lives by providing comprehensive training in 2D/3D Animation, Full-stack and Game Development Course. To complete the production cycle and further expand their influence, Thinktrek Entertainment, a publishing house, will be introduced soon.
