For Business or Pleasure? 4 Productivity Hacks When Traveling on Business

Date:

Your boss wants you to travel to a trade show this weekend to show off some of your amazing products. Business travel is a great way to get a change of scenery. Even though you’ll still be working, it will feel more like a vacation.

As you can imagine, this can kill your motivation. Between taking in the sights, jet lag, and trying the local delicacies, the last thing you want to do is bother with emails and conference calls.

We have a few productivity hacks that can help you out. Keep reading to learn how to make the most out of your time abroad.

1. Plan Ahead of Time

Planning a vacation takes a lot of work, let alone a business trip. You’ve got to book a hotel, find the best corporate travel services, and look for flight deals that won’t involve too much carryover.

Be sure to start this process as soon as you know that you’ll be taking a trip. Not only will this save you time later, but it will make you appear to be organized and responsible in the eyes of any potential business partners.

2. Pack Light

Between jetlag and performing your work duties, the last thing you want to do is lug a heavy suitcase into your hotel room. Stick to a single carry-on if you can. Plan your outfits ahead of time, so you only take what clothes you need.

If you can get away with only packing a tablet or smartphone, leave the laptop at home. If you need to bring a bunch of product samples for a tradeshow, see if your hotel will let you mail them there in advance. This way, you won’t have to worry about stuffing them in your bag.

3. Use Your Technology the Smart Way

Technology should be life hack products in itself. It shouldn’t make your life harder, but it can if you’re not smart with it. Use it to map out all your meetings and projects before you go. You don’t want to stress about doing a bunch of stuff when you get back or playing catchup during your trip.

With all the new sights, it’s easy to get distracted. Using calendar apps while you’re gone can keep you on task. Lastly, download all your needed apps and software before you head out.

Otherwise, you’ll be running around like a crazy person looking for a Wi-Fi connection.

4. Make the Most of Your Flight Time

You might not have access to the web while you’re on your flight, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use a few productive life hacks. Write up any emails and send them when you get to your hotel. If you have any unfinished work saved to your desktop, complete it on the plane.

Use Your Time Wisely With These Productivity Hacks

Vacation sights and jetlag make it hard to find the motivation to get things done during a business trip. Using these productivity hacks might be able to make things easier.

Get things done and enjoy yourself at the same time. You’re still on vacation, after all.
