What are the different types of conveyors systems used in industries?

We have observed in many industries, the goods move from one place to another through a standard rubber-like piece, within the same area. This is called a conveyor system.

The conveyor system is a piece to handle the mechanical equipment from one site to another. The system works efficiently to lift and transport heavy materials. Instead of wasting time, bulky goods can be transported within very little time, and the good part is, this system can carry a large variety of goods.

The conveyors can be found in different industries such as mining, agricultural, automotive, bottling and canning, aerospace, pharmaceutical, food processing, packaging, electronics, and many more.

What are the different types of conveyor systems used in industries?

Due to the importance of the conveyor system, the demand has been increased. From industry to industry the nature, size, and transportation of goods vary. This leads to the formation of different types of conveyors across the industries.

Belt Conveyors

The most common type of conveyor system used in many industries is the belt conveyor. The belts are available in wide variety according to the need. The belts are usually accessible in rubber, nylon, PVC, polyester, neoprene, and food-grade (for food industries). Belt rolls on the hinged roller that gives an easy movement. According to the different needs of the industries, different types of belts are used.

For example, in grocery stores, belt conveyors are made up of PVC. While in the mining industries, belt conveyors are usually made up of rubber that is quite strong and saves the belt from damage. Filter conveyors are also available that have pores. These types of conveyors are used to filter some impurities such as in food processing plants.

Roller conveyors

Roller conveyors use sticks made of different materials, mainly wood or metal. These sticks are laid back to backorder. This type of conveyor is used in forwarding crates or boxes from one point to another. There are two types of roller conveyors, manual and automatic.

In the manual movement, the material is handled by the labor that transports goods on the rail rollers. The speed of the rollers cannot be handled according to the desire. While, the automatic movement, the boxes are transported automatically without any manual use.

Powered roller conveyor

The powered roller conveyor is the same as a manual roller or manual movement conveyor. The rollers are arranged in the same back to backorder, but there is a big difference. In the manual movement, the load has to be managed manually, but in the powered roller conveyor, the electric energy provides the power to the rollers. They vibrate and move in a specific direction that carries the load automatically. The speed can also be adjusted.

Overhead Conveyor

Overhead conveyors have more features than others and usually used where the space is limited. Overhead conveyors are suspended from the ceilings and use either belt or roller conveyors that help in transportation. The empty space left below overhead can be used for different industrial purposes.

For example, during construction, the overhead conveyors can be used to transport the supplies. In the manufacturing company, these conveyors are very helpful to hold the empty body of cars.

Chain Conveyors

Chain conveyors use single, continuous series of chain that is powered by electric current. As the chain vibrates and illustrates the movement, the load easily transports to the destination. The chains used on the conveyors can be double.

The conveyor transports heavy and bulky objects, such as heavy boxes, pallets, and industrial containers. Thus, it is completing the heavy tasks in minutes.

All types of conveyors systems help simplify the tasks. The good part is that all conveyors are not burdened on your pocket except overhead conveyors.
