  • Painkillers and antibiotics provided prior to the surgery can help to overcome the discomfort and risk of infection. Inform your dentist about the medication you can take before the surgery. 
  • If you feel too anxious or nervous because of your surgery, then talk to your dentist, so the dentist could decide the appropriate sedation process to perform the surgery properly. 

Things to remember after surgery: 

The first 24 hours after the surgery are crucial, thus the patient keeps into observation. Also, the patient doesn’t allow to go alone anywhere as the sedation effect would present for some hours after the surgery. Below are a few more things required to be followed after dental implant AL. 

  • Bite or sponges that were placed in your mouth to control bleeding for at least one hour, and up to three hours. 
  • Site with your head elevated and avoid moving for at least the first eight hours. 
  • There will be definitely swelling on the face after the surgery. So, place the ice for the first 15 minutes and remove it for the next 15 minutes. Repeat the process throughout the day and check if the swelling gets reduced. 
  • Eat and drink only soft foods and liquid for the first 48 hours after the surgery. 
  • Follow the doctor’s prescription as per the instructions.
  • Do not rinse your mouth with water for first 24 hours. Gradually eat your meal softly and rinse your mouth with warm water with a teaspoon salt in it. 

The time before and after the surgery is crucial. You need to take care of it and follow all the necessary precautions as per the given instructions to experience the best result.
