Crystal Palace has removed the W88 Betting logo from their shirts
Crystal Palace, an English Premier League team, has replaced online gambling company W88 with a new sponsor, Cinch, an online vehicle store.
The new development comes after the UK government restricted gambling companies from being shirt sponsors, which would affect numerous Premier League clubs.
However, as the debate over a betting sponsorship ban continues and the English football season closes, Crystal Palace has become the first English Premier League team to sever connections with its gambling brand sponsor.
W88mobi agreed to sponsor Crystal Palace for about £6.5 million each season to market its brand through its home stadium, signage, and social media accounts.
On the other hand, Cinch has now become Crystal Palace’s new official training gear partner, allowing it to promote its brand across the club’s youth teams, Selhurst Park Stadium, and digital media. The men’s and women’s teams will also wear Cinch’s emblem on their shirts as part of the multi-year agreement.
