Chris Jackman had a vision to create a law firm that put his clients first and treated them like family, where he could work tirelessly every day to help his clients, and most of all, to win and win big for his clients. After successfully launching his own firm, The Jackson Law Firm, Chris Jackman has made this goal a reality.

He has also established a 501c3 charity called Hearing Help, which helps provide hearing aids to school-age children.

We recently caught up with Chris Jackman, lawyer and founder of the Jackman Law Firm who gave us the best advice he has for young entrepreneurs. He shared what he believes to be the key elements for starting and running a successful business, as well as the biggest mistake they should avoid.

What advice do you have for someone interested in starting their own company?

The biggest advice I’d give to someone is to take big risks and have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish.

In addition, I highly suggest they get a business coach to help them learn what they don’t know and see around their blind spots.

What is the biggest mistake you see others making in business?

The biggest mistake I see others making in business is that they fail to find their key differentiator. People need to understand what their strengths are and play to them accordingly.

What are the key elements for starting and running a successful business?

The key elements for starting and running a successful business are finding the right people to help you achieve your goals. You can’t do everything on your own and you will need help.

As Jim Collins has said, “You have to have the right people, in the right seat, on the bus.” Once you do that, you will go so much further than you would if you were on your own.

What is the one book that you recommend everyone should read and why?

I would recommend people read The 10X Rule by Grant Cardone for goal setting and motivation.

I would also recommend Good to Great by Jim Collins for how to execute the vision you have for your business.

What is the one thing you do over and over and recommend everyone else do?

The one thing I do over and over again is I take chances on ideas I have. I recommend people do the same by taking risks and stepping outside their comfort zones. It’s hard and it gets harder as you age since you get comfortable in a mindset that you know it all, or at least your one area of business, but the truth is you have to keep experimenting and trying new things to truly grow as a person and businessman.
