The COVID-19 aka coronavirus pandemic is unlike anything the modern world has ever seen. In the space of just a few short months, most of the world has ground to a halt. To prevent the contagion spreading, over one-third of the world’s population is now stuck indoors. It’s times like these that make me appreciate my spectrum local channels. It is still my primary source to get my share of news, drama, movies, and the occasional UFC fight. But with so much free time on our hands, maybe a little binging is in order.

TV Shows To Binge During Quarantine  

Why do we need to binge TV shows during quarantine? There are two reasons. First, the news is full of death, destruction, and gloom. Ultimately, too much of this can desensitize you to the problem. So, for your sanity, it is important to vary what content you consume. Narcos Mexico   

While almost everyone in the 80s new who Pablo Escobar was, it was Netflix’s original TV show Narcos that made the cocaine kingpin a household name. Based on true events Narcos followed the gritty and often violent drug trade in 1980s Colombia and gained massive attention. Narcos Mexico is a spinoff of the original series, focusing not on Pablo Escobar or the Cali Catel, but on Felix Miguel Angel Gallardo. Gallardo rose from being a small-time cop in Sinaloa to the head of the most powerful drug coalition in Mexico’s history. The show follows Gallardo’s rise from a marijuana grower to the Drug Kingpin in Chief of Mexico. With often raw violence and captivatingly complex characters, Narcos Mexico has 2 seasons for you to start binging on today.  

Witcher

This widely popular TV show is based on the bestselling Witcher games, which in turn were based on a series of books by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. To anyone who has ever even had a glimpse of the Witcher videogame franchise, you will be surprised by the attention to detail and how true the titular character stays to the source material. Meet Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a mutant with special abilities that make him an ideal monster hunter, otherwise known as a witcher. Carrying two swords strapped to his back, piercing yellow eyes, and fight sequences that put Game of Thrones to shame, Geralt will keep you hooked. American Horror Story

American Horror Story is a masterpiece of horror TV shows available on streaming. Each season revolves around a separate theme, from a haunted house to a creepy asylum to a coven of witches. The cast remains the same for the most part, which only adds to the show’s appeal. The shows creator’s definitely know how to play all the psychological cues to get you hooked onto this one-of-a-kind horror drama.  

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the few sitcoms that get a good reputation all around the world. Meet Detective Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg), an immature but talented NYPD detective working out of the 99^th Precinct. With a change in senior management, suddenly Jake’s unprofessional work methods are at risk thanks to incoming Captain Holt (Andre Braugher). The show is very well done in terms of light-hearted comedy and brutal verbal sparring. But by the end of the first season, you will be in love with the goofy characters from the Nine-Nine.
