The nomination papers submitted for Rangpur Sadar-3 constituency in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election of Bangladesh have been selected. The verification was held at the Rangpur Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday morning. After the verification, Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Enamul Ahsan declared the nomination papers of Shamsuzzaman Samu, the final nominated MP candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP and the convener of the Metropolitan BNP, valid in Rangpur-3 (City Corporation Part and Sadar Upazila) constituency.

Meanwhile, in an immediate reaction, BNP’s nominated MP candidate Shamsuzzaman Samu’s nomination for Rangpur-3 constituency was declared valid. He said that the people of Rangpur have been neglected and deprived for a long time. This time, the opportunity has come for change, I hope the people of Rangpur will not miss that opportunity. At that time, he also said, I was a Rangpur resident in the past, happy and sad. I want to stay until death. I want to serve the neglected Rangpur residents. I want to develop. Meanwhile, there was a lot of enthusiasm among the BNP leaders and activists in the air of his nomination announcement. Many distributed sweets at different places and expressed their gratitude. Many expressed their hope that in the future, more extensive campaigning will be carried out with new enthusiasm for the end of paddy.
Party sources said that in giving BNP’s nomination in the upcoming national parliamentary elections, importance has been given to the field-level reality, the candidate’s acceptability, social standing, dedication to the party and the ability to manage the organization. Considering that, first, Shamsuzzaman Samu, the convener of the metropolitan BNP in the Rangpur Sadar-3 constituency, was given the primary nomination. Later, the party nominated him as the final candidate on December 24.
It is known that Shamsuzzaman Samu, the BNP nominee in the Rangpur Sadar-3 constituency, is currently in charge of the position of convener of the Rangpur metropolitan BNP. Earlier, he was the general secretary, senior vice-president and acting president of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP, and joint convener of the district. Growing up in the thick of politics since his student days, Shamsuzzaman Samu Aihityabahi was the general secretary and president of Carmichael University College Chhatra Dal and later led the Rangpur District Chhatra Dal as president and general secretary. He was the former organizing secretary of Rajshahi Divisional Chhatra Dal. This BNP leader, who was at the forefront of the anti-dictatorship movement in the 1990s, was also at the forefront of the anti-Hasina movement. He was the president of the All-Party Students’ Unity Council in the greater Rangpur region during the anti-dictatorship movement. More than 50 cases were filed against this BNP leader, who was out of power for a long time. He was imprisoned 20 times. 25 cases were filed against him before August 5, focusing on the July movement alone. In most of them, he was the main accused or an accused by order. Shamsuzzaman Samu, who has an MA degree, is involved in various social, cultural, voluntary, sports and professional organizations as well as educational institutions. Known as a senior leader of Rangpur, Shamsuzzaman Samu is a businessman by profession. He visited Senegal for the OIC summit as a traveling companion of the then Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in 1992. He is touring the field highlighting 19 proposals of the prosperous Rangpur development vision to take forward the neglected Rangpur. He has made extensive mass contact with party leaders and activists in 24 wards of Rangpur metropolis and 5 unions of Sadar Upazila. It is said that he is getting a huge response from the party leaders and activists as well as the general public.
