“Thanks to our strategic partner in the world, Spartan Race, Visit Big Bear, as well as the team from HIGHLANDER, that have worked on the project for months in order to bring our ‘Adventure of A Lifetime” to America. We’ll see you out on the trail!’

The year 2021 was the first time Spartan is the globe’s most renowned endurance sports and extreme wellness brand has recognized the potential of HIGHLANDER to be a key partner, making it possible to bring this unique, long-distance adventure hiking experience to U.S.

The mission, vision and values of both brands are derived from the same premise of building physical and mental strength to effect positive lifestyle transformations.

The partnership between Spartan Race and HIGHLANDER will allow us to inspire many more people across the globe to take part in physical activities they believe are out of their capabilities”, said Spartan Race chief executive officer and founder Joe De Sena. “This is about identifying our limits, and then going beyond them.”

Every HIGHLANDER event is a unique location that ranges from vast deserts to mountain tops that are snowy and from sand dunes to pastures and lakes that appeal to the modern-day nomads.

The participants are asked to ditch their smartphones and take in the natural world and join the global HIGHLANDER group of hikers.

“The HIGHLANDER approach strikes the perfect balance between guided trekking and self-sufficient trek,” said Peter Watson, acclaimed travel writer photographer, writer as well as HIGHLANDER ambassador. “With numerous logistics handled I am able to enjoy the freedom of hiking on my own, but with the added benefit of being lighter and not having to worry about food and fuel supply and route planning, or looking for campsites that are suitable every day. Instead, I can focus on the path ahead and take in the beautiful scenery.”

“HIGHLANDER can also be a fantastic opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals and have a social time while hiking,” Watson added. “Even even though I’m a solo hiker, others are always within reach and are always willing to stop to chat. Evenings are social occasions with hikers sharing stories around the campfire. I’ve kept in contact with many of the people I encountered on the trail, and we’re planning more HIGHLANDER hikes.”
