Popular Beaches in Phi Phi, Thailand

Looking for the best beaches on Koh Phi Phi Leh?

We have everything you need to know about the best beaches to see on Phi Phi Thailand!

Top Tip: For a fun night out, check out the reggae bar, which has a boxing ring, where fights are held every night. The fights start at 9 pm. You can also go to Maya Bay, which is famous for being the location of the movie ‘The Beach’. The area has beautiful turquoise waters and limestone cliffs. Another popular tourist spot is the Bida Islands, which are a string of small islands.

Here’s the beaches;

Loh Dalam Bay

Loh Dalam Bay is one of the most picturesque beaches in the world. Its light blue water and soft white sand are surrounded by pretty islets. It’s a popular tourist spot that can get quite crowded. But there are plenty of things to do while you’re here. You can enjoy the beach, snorkel around the rocks, or go kayaking. Just be aware that the beaches can get quite crowded with people.

Maya Bay

Maya Bay is a popular destination for day trippers from Phuket and Krabi. It is accessible only by speedboat or long-tail boat. The best way to visit this stunning beach is with a private longtail boat. You can find dozens of traditional Thai longtail boats lining up at the Tonsai harbor. Ask one of the drivers if you’d like a ride to Maya Bay.

While the Maya Bay National Park is a national park, boat tours will incur an additional fee of 400 baht per person, which can make the trip more expensive. A private long-tail boat will cost around 1,500 baht, which includes a three-hour tour of Maya Bay, free snorkels on board, and free tours of the Viking Cave and Phi-Leh Lagoon. The tour organizers can also supply you with snorkeling gear and towels.

If you are traveling in late August or early September, the water quality at Maya Bay has been compromised by heavy tourism. This is affecting the natural corals and marine life. This is why a planned closure of the bay could take effect in the second half of 2018. It’s expected to be in place for three or four months.

Since the COVID pandemic, the Thai government has imposed strict measures to reduce the number of tourists visiting the bay. In addition to limiting the number of people visiting the bay per hour, they have implemented advanced booking requirements. The closure could affect thousands of travelers. This has prompted Experience Travel to stop suggesting that visitors visit Maya Bay.

The bay was once known as the perfect place to go snorkeling and diving. It was once home to several species of colorful fish, but mass tourism has destroyed its reef. Today, the beach is only visible at low tide and is completely covered by water during high tide.

Long Beach

When it comes to beaches in Thailand, Long Beach is one of the most popular. It offers white sand, spectacular ocean views, and great snorkeling close to shore. If you’re a snorkeler, Long Beach is a must. The area is also known for the many restaurants and bars with live fire shows.

Laem Tong Beach

Laem Tong Beach is a popular destination for tourists seeking a quiet, tranquil setting with good snorkeling and diving. There are a wide variety of water sports available on the beach, including scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, and windsurfing. Visitors can also take courses and attend workshops, including Thai cooking.

Visitors can expect world-class ambiance and facilities at Laem Tong Beach, but the prices are not too high. The beach is home to many hotels that offer free beach chairs and sun loungers. Toilet facilities are free and accessible to guests. You can even rent hammocks under the coconut palms.

If you are travelling on a budget, the Voyager’s Hostel is an affordable option located 10 minutes from the main pier. The accommodation offers air-conditioning, free wifi, and safety boxes for valuables. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. The Jasmin Restaurant is also popular for its beachside setup and affordable prices. It features a relaxed atmosphere and serves fresh seafood.

Visitors may arrive by ferry or by van. The ferry service leaves at 7am and takes about an hour. The ferry ticket is 100 baht for one person. Another option is a flight. Destination Air operates flights four times a day. It also offers pick-up service.

The beach is perfect for snorkeling and swimming. Several of the snorkeling spots are located near the shore, including the famous Hin Klang Island. Visitors may also spot dozens of monkeys, which live in the cliffs.
