B.Tech College: The Way To Become Tech Savvy

Date:

If we look back to the early 21st century and look at today, what is the most important change we notice throughout this time span? It is nothing but technology which has changed our lifestyle, our thinking capabilities and the whole world. So, how did this technology become the most important thing in our daily lives? The answer is through Machines, that is, anything that reduces human effort. And when we say machines, the only thing that comes to our mind is Engineer. If we look more deeply into this, the only thing that turned a person from a normal human into a creative boffin is B.Tech. colleges, or Engineering colleges.

Role of colleges and specializations

There are several institutions which offer courses in different streams of engineering like computer science, electronics, mechanical, and electrical. All these B.Tech. colleges vary in various fields, for instance, some provide good job opportunities in computer science and some provide better placement in electronics. Some of the B.Tech. colleges have good infrastructure with the best faculty which focuses more on research and projects. So, all B.Tech. colleges have their own USP and way of providing knowledge. But, apart from all these factors, if we talk about the actual meaning of engineering, it is to design and build something that can bring a positive change to this world. This desire to make or develop something new is missing in youngsters today. Students simply want to score good marks to get eligible for placements and only want to work for the high-paying MNCs without considering the nature of work.

CS is the best engineering stream: A myth

Getting a good placement and working in the best companies is certainly a good thing, but all the zeal of research to transform the world is lost somewhere. B.Tech. colleges must teach students not to memorize but think creatively & passionately towards their particular fields which will help them not only to get a better opportunity in life but also to move in the right direction. This right direction refers to the main issue that a student is currently facing in his/her daily life. There are in total 3,500 B.Tech. colleges in India that produce 1 million engineers annually which is resulting in tough competition and ultimately creates the major problem of unemployment.

As per recent stats related to the matter, not all engineering graduates are working as engineers. This is due to lack of interest, change of mind and unemployment. This mass production of graduates from the same field is creating an imbalance in the society and the only way to avoid this problem is to make students passionate for what they choose. It is extremely important to make them understand the value of choosing the right stream while opting for engineering. Students want to work as Software Developers but choose mechanical engineering just for the sake of better college during counselling. All through the four years they study mechanical without any interest and finally end up with no placement or take a break after graduation to prepare for coding languages. There are some career counselling sessions for students which they must take before opting for any B.Tech. college or stream. It will help them attain a better understanding of all streams and its importance in life and career.

The underrated branches of engineering

According to the data, the most opted B.Tech. stream in India is Computer Science because of lack of awareness about the other options. Students do not know that choosing any subsidiary branches of the core branch can also result in better and amazing opportunities. There are several engineering streams like instrumentation and control, food engineering, biomedical engineering, and agriculture engineering etc. which are still underrated and offer the best career opportunities in future. Even the Indian Defense Services release many seats under university entry scheme for branches like instrumentation & control, metallurgy, production and many more. If anyone opts for food engineering, there are several jobs which the Indian government releases in the food and agriculture sector. There are many other similar examples which can be provided to the students before choosing any stream but lack of knowledge towards career lands them in the place. Not all IITs provide 100% placement. It entirely depends on the individual capabilities of students and how skilled they are in their fields of education.

Final Words

As mentioned in the beginning that every B.Tech. college has its own speciality and uniqueness to make students excel in different streams, it doesn’t mean that only IITs, NITs, and IIITs are good for them. So, choose your college and specialization wisely. Do your homework and perform enough research, ask your teachers, seniors and educational advisors before deciding what suits you the best.
