ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TECHNOLOGIES CHANGING PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project Management is a process which includes initiation, planning, execution, controlling and closing (five stages of Project Management) of a given work by a team which leads to the achievement of a particular goal followed by specific success criteria, and all this in a given specified time span.

 

A project is lead by a Project Manager who is under the charge for the success or the failure of a project. A Project Managers work includes – Planning, Execution, Closure/ Deployment of the project, to manage the Team, as well as to manage the expectation i.e. communicating the project status milestones and unexpected difficulties effectively.

Project management in general follows two methodologies i.e. agile and waterfall. Waterfall method is a traditional liner sequential life cycle method and Agile is a continuous iteration of developments. Waterfall is a method which goes with a project which are well-defined and where no changes is needed and Agile goes where frequent changes are needed.

Artificial intelligence (AI) also called machine intelligence is encouragement of human intelligence in machines which are programmed to think as humans and also copy or mimic human actions like learning and problem solving.

Artificial Intelligence and Project Management

Artificial Intelligence can increase productivity and reduce errors in the projects and can manage the stages of project management efficiently. One of the most important Project Management responsibilities is task management. The Project Manager should represent and monitor the execution of plans and activities, organize them on schedules and also to make sure no obstacle is occurring in the completion of a given tasks.

This type of work can be done with a chatbot which is designed specifically to manage the functions such as assigning tasks, getting regular updates on status, giving warning signals of potential roadblocks and many more. Chatbot can help in task selection, ask the team members about the task given and the updates on the given task and also the completion of any task given. At the end bots can create reports that can be circulated to all members involved in said project.

Also, chatbots can conduct meetings between teams, consulting each one on the availability of schedules, chatbot automatically measures the time spent on each task and, based on what still needs to be completed can estimates a realistic deadline for a project completion.

Artificial Intelligence reduces the risk of error in a project, it can accurately predict the faults and flaws of a project conducted and can also alert the team about any possible risk which can occur in a project if a specific path is taken.

On the basis of the analysis of the risks which may possibly occur, artificial intelligence can also suggest on the solutions and measures which can be taken for the completions of any given task.

Foreseeing and reducing errors through AI result in to increase in efficiency.  AI can automatically do some simple and easy task like sending emails, notification about project delays, costs, and more which results in the time saving of the team members and which provide them with chance and time to think about innovations and improvements of any project.

Artificial Intelligence through completing various task, reducing the time period taken, reducing the error and many more helps the project manager to make effective decisions to complete a given project.

Artificial intelligence is altering the type of work in a project management in a positive and affective way. The benefits of Artificial Intelligence in project management are very important and extensive which is helping to upgrade and refine the performance of a project. 

Also, artificial intelligence is not there to replace the humans but to improve their efficiency through the use of technology.
