  1. Open Microsoft Outlook and go to File.
  2. Click on Account Settings and from Account Settings menu, open the Account Settings window.
  3. Click on the first tab and select New.
  4. Now click on Manual setup or additional server types.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Choose POP or IMAP from the list of options.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Fill out all the details in the Add Account window: Your Name, Email Address, Server Information section ( for the Incoming mail server and for the Outgoing mail server).
  9. Type your AOL email username and password at the bottom of the Add Account screen. Do not enter “” portion here, type only your username.
  10. Check Remember password box.
  11. Now select More Settings from the bottom right of the Add Account window.
  12. Go to the Outgoing Server tab and check ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’ box.
  13. In the Advanced tab of the Internet Email Settings window, type 587 in the Outgoing server (SMTP) area.
  14. Click OK to save the changes and exit the window.
  15. Select Next and click on the Add Account window.
  16. Outlook will test the account settings and will send you a text message.
  17. Select Finish to close down the Add Account window.
  18. Now click Close to exit the Account Settings screen.
