All of the most successful organizations in world history have solved a massive problem that consumers either had or did not know they had yet. Let’s take Apple for example: Who knew that everyone needed a computer in their own pocket? Steve Jobs saw a massive opportunity and a growing market. People today are highly attached to their phones, where just a decade ago we hardly had regular access to any technology like this before. Anticipating what people need, or will need soon, is the first step towards building something successful. A helpful tip: use Google Keyword Planner. This tool allows you to see what people are searching for across the globe. If you start seeing trends for a specific search you may be on to your next idea!
Have a Passion
Too many times I hear people trying to constantly chase a paycheck. Money is great and can be very helpful to one’s situation, but is this really the solution? Likely, the answer is no. Finding something that you are uniquely passionate about is a big part of building success. You need to wake up in the morning excited to work hard, every day. If you are working for the wrong reasons, you will find yourself playing a short-term game of cat and mouse and never living a fulfilled life. If you work toward something that you love, work stops being work… it becomes fun and exciting.
Just Get Started Already
How often do you hear people tell you about an idea or a business they want to start, but nothing ever seems to move forward for them? The reason for this is that many people have what we call: ‘analysis paralysis.’ These people are basically getting in their own heads, and over analyzing a situation that may prove to be a bit easier than they think, once the idea is executed. The trick is to just get started on your idea, even if it’s not thought out 100%. If you never start you will never have anything. In the words of entrepreneur, Nolan Bushnell, “The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.”
