Abaya and Hijab: Just a Fashion Statement or a Personal Choice?

Date:

Considering the new rumor and everything that has been going around in Iran regarding the hijab and abaya, we know how highlighted hijabs and abayas are for all the wrong reasons. However, one cannot ignore the importance of the hijab and abaya in religious gatherings. Keeping aside everything that has been going around about abaya and hijab, one thing that we cannot deny at all is that with all style and fashion, you can carry it more efficiently and make it look chic and classy.Getting a hijab online is no big deal today but finding the right store that can offer you some good quality along at a less price is something that is not too easy physically. People today are finding it difficult to find just the right hijab for their clothes. And when we talk about hijabs we do not mean the general hijabs you wear with an abaya, but it also includes the fancy ones that you need to complement your dresses for weddings as well. Now is the time, we rebrand modest fashion as a trendy and fashionable fashion to make fashion easy for our religious practicing women.

Rebranding Modest Wears

There is no denying to the fact that there are various dynamic forms of self-expression, and fashion is one of them which keeps shifting all the time. Today, women and men both change their fashion within days, there is no constant fashion statement that they are following. Trends are changing and so are our fashion choices. However, the trend of modest fashion is one thing that stays is the modest fashion of wearing hijabs and abayas. Religious people promote modest wear tremendously but on the other hand, the fanatics go against and discourage it extensively. Nevertheless, whenever people come across a famous person donning any different kind of attire, it automatically becomes favorite of the customers, and their sales skyrocket within a few days.

Bandwagon Effect on Fashion

The western fashion industry never openly accepted modest fashion as it did not really align with their fashion sense. Still, it has been trending all over the world for quite some time, particularly after some famous music directors and actors have promoted it on their social accounts and in movies. However, the message that they are spreading through their posts is to let women wear whatever they want. Whoever wants to wear whatever they want, they can and no racism should be done against a particular group. A few years or maybe a decade ago, there was no concept of modest fashion and no one was talking about it to promote it. However, the good thing is now the times are changing and people are promoting it.

Do Not Do It Because Everyone is Doing

According to some religious beliefs, one should do follow the trend only because the others are doing it. The only religious purpose of wearing a hijab is because it aligns with your values and principles. Following it for the sake of being trendy would eventually be damaging for the real purpose of the hijab and abaya. Dressing modestly is all about being secular and spiritual, the agenda of western feminists is something out of the blue. They want the world to dress however they want which is something really appreciate-able. Other than that, it also gives a sense of freedom and relief to the Muslim woman wearing an abaya in the western world.

We all agree with the fact that women are objectified all over the world, be it a religious community or non-religious community, this one thing is pretty common. Wearing abaya allows women to be free in their choices, in no way we are saying those who do not wear abaya are not allowed or should not be allowed to be free. But one thing that we cannot deny is the ease that abaya provides. It is self-empowering and frees a woman from the shackles of western fashion media along with their industry.

When the Facade Comes Down

Covering yourself from top to bottom was never an issue in the western media, and therefore they were very open about it. However, when it comes to covering your head [read: wearing a hijab] or your face [read: wearing a niqab], that was something unacceptable by the western media. Nevertheless, people today are pretty open and accepting about the different kinds of abayas and fashion statements women are following. The hate crimes against the particular group are subsidized and women today are freer to wear whatever they wish.

Wrapping Up!

Women are more empowered today and free to make choices regarding their clothes or whatever. This is how it should have been always but today we are happy to see a grave change all over society. If you are looking to get the perfect matching hijab for your dress, look nowhere else because The Black Camels has it all for you!
