Trina Solar carries a variety of solar panels with different features and designed for different uses. But how do you know which panel from their lineup is the right type for your solar project? First, it’s important to note that Trina categorizes their panels into 4 distinct “families,” with each grouping being designed for a different primary purpose. Keep reading to learn more about these solar panel families and decide which one is right for you.
The Vertex S
The Vertex S is Trina’s residential “all-rounder.” These panels are designed with homeowners in mind, and are able to pack a powerful, efficient punch in a compact size; this means homeowners can get more power in a smaller space, which is important when working within the limits of a residential roof. The Vertex S comes in a few different models, ranging from 420 W to 440 W, all of which have about 21% efficiency. If you want high power density without covering your entire roof in panels, the Vertex S panels are a good choice.
The Vertex S+
As the name implies, the Vertex S+ family of panels is an upgrade to the Vertex S lineup. It’s designed for buyers that are trying to prioritize durability and lower degradation while maintaining exceptional aesthetics. These panels are upgraded to include n-type i-TOPC cells and a dual-glass build that improves weather resistance and reduces micro-cracking. The sub-models in this family can range from 445 W to 510 W. If you live in a harsher climate and still want your panels to last for decades, the Vertex S+ lineup is a good choice.
Vertex / Vertex N
The Vertex line, also called Vertex N, is best suited to commercial rooftops, carports, and ground-mounted or utility sites. These panels push much higher in their power output than most residential panels, putting out 550 W to over 600 W for some modules. Many of the panels in this lineup are bi-facial dual-glass designs, which boosts output, especially when installed on a reflective surface. However, they have a very large footprint, which is why they’re not usually intended for residential systems.
Tallmax
The Tallmax series of panels is Trina’s long-running utility lineup of panels. While not as new as Vertex N (and therefore missing a few of the latest upgrades in technology) the Tallmax series remains widely used because of its solid output of 370 W to 470 W, and its proven track record of performance. They remain a great choice for commercial installations that are looking for a budget-friendly, yet still reliable and efficient solar option. Now the next time you’re looking at Trina Solar panels for sale, you’ll hopefully have a better idea of which solar panel family you should be buying from!
