6 Best Cities to Visit During Spring Time

After a long and snowy winter, springtime in the US is a welcome change of pace. However, if you live in a state like Colorado, you can get winter weather well into April. These 6 US cities offer an exciting and warm chance to escape the cold.

San Diego, CA

Frankly, there’s never a bad time to travel to San Diego. The weather is almost always mild, sunny, and without humidity. While in town, have a picnic in Balboa Park and check out the world-famous San Diego Zoo. If animals aren’t your thing, enjoy any of the many sandy beaches just outside the city from which you can see some of the most beautiful sunsets. For parents of young kids, long days of walking around the city get exhausting, so don’t forget to pack a sports wagon to help easily transport your family across the sand.

Washington, DC

Early in spring, the Cherry Blossoms bloom all over the city of DC, covering the capital in bright pink flowers. Touring the monuments with these pops of color is really a sight to behold. However, be prepared for crowds, as people from all over the country come to DC to see the flowers. If crowds aren’t your thing, rent a car and drive down to Shenandoah Park in Virginia. It is one of the many amazing National Parks in the US and offers equally beautiful views of the city during the spring.

Miami, FL

With warm water beaches and an incredible mix of culture and food, Miami is the ultimate escape from the winter weather. Plus, for those looking to explore nightlife, the bar and club scene in the city is unbeatable. Because it is so popular though, flights to Miami can be pretty expensive. Looking for flights from Denver Colorado is your best bet to find a manageable price for flights from Colorado to Florida.

Chicago, IL

Chicago also has a long and harsh winter but, when it fades, it is hard to find a more lovely place than Chicago in the Spring. If you’re feeling touristy, grab a Chicago style hotdog and check out the Bean, a massive silver piece of art where visitors from all over the world come to take funky distorted pictures. Walk along the Chicago Riverwalk or take in the view of the skyline from the sky deck of the Willis Tower to get a feel for this homey midwestern city.

Austin, TX

By visiting Austin in the spring, you get a chance to explore the city before the oppressive Texas heat sets in. Take advantage of this time to explore some of the weird and wonderful sights of Austin such as the Cathedral of Junk or the beautiful botanical gardens. Bonus: Texas Hill Country is just a short drive west from the city. In the spring, the bluebonnets will be in full bloom filling the hills with their beautiful color.

Albuquerque, NM

In what other US city can you take a hot air balloon tour at sunrise? This is just one of the many ways to explore the beautiful desert city of Albuquerque. For a more budget friendly option with a similarly gorgeous view, try the Sandia Peak tramway, which offers clear views of the New Mexico landscape for miles. Afterwards, take your pick of the amazing Mexican food the city has to offer. Its proximity to Mexican border means that every hole-in-the-wall is guaranteed to be authentic and delicious.

While winter in Colorado may seem to drag on, its central location in the United States means that a sun and flower-filled springtime vacation is just a quick flight away.
