1. Vietnamese Broken Rice (Com Tam)

Vietnamese broken rice, or Com Tam, is a dish made from rice that has been broken during the milling process. Despite its name, broken rice is actually a type of long-grain rice that is commonly used in Vietnamese cuisine.

The rice is typically cooked with chicken, pork, or shrimp and flavored with fish sauce, nuoc mam, and soy sauce. It is often served with pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and chili peppers.

While Com Tam may not be as well-known as other Vietnamese dishes such as pho or banh mi, it is a delicious and hearty meal that is sure to satisfy.

2. Hainanese Chicken Rice

Hainanese chicken rice is a popular dish in Singapore and Malaysia. The dish is composed of poached chicken and rice that has been cooked in chicken broth.

It is usually served with a light soy sauce, chili paste, and lime wedges. Hainanese chicken rice is believed to have originated from the Hainan province in China. In the early 20th century, Hainanese immigrants brought the dish to Southeast Asia.

Today, it is a popular street food as well as a staple in many home kitchens. While the dish may seem simple, it is often said that the best Hainanese chicken rice is the result of years of practice and perfecting the art of cooking rice to perfection.

3. Sushi

Sushi is an Asian rice dish that is becoming increasingly popular in the western world. It consists of cooked rice, vinegar, sugar, and salt, as well as a variety of other ingredients such as seafood, vegetables, and sometimes fruits.

Sushi is typically served with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi. Sushi recipes can be found by searching in Asian cookbooks, or by attending a sushi-making class. It is also possible to find pre-made sushi at many Asian markets or grocery stores.

4. Nasi Goreng

Nasi goreng is an Indonesian dish made with fried rice that is typically seasoned with kecap manis (sweet soy sauce), shallots, garlic, tamarind paste, and chili peppers.

It can be served with a variety of toppings such as fried eggs, crispy shallots, peanuts, or shrimp crackers.

Biryani is a popular Indian dish made with basmati rice that is cooked with spices, meat or vegetables, and often yogurt or cream.

It is believed to have originated in the Mughal Empire and comes in many different varieties depending on the region where it’s prepared.
