This movie is old but I still love it.
The Shogun is not the laugh from the corner that you can make fun of with dirty jokes and a pat on the back and forth between two glasses of sake. It is more the guy who pays no mind with a tiny eye in the middle of a face round and a big voice redemptive bi-optional: death or forfeiture of rights.
Thus was born the story of the Ronin. 47 guys who feel not necessarily very strong, but who are said to still stand in the gap.
The costumes and the make-up are rather well done, this is the first good point of the movie.
The prologue presents the hunt for an ugly creature, mammoth in addition, and almost indescribable, by a horde of samurai rabid. This scene is immediately before the watershed’s dream story, with computer-generated images rather neat, monsters and scenery, but also able to repel the viewer.
The film itself is rather characterised by the balance between the technical and the frame narrative.
The scenario is not miser passes of weapons that the viewer is gone. The blades are finely honed, some fights without rather well choreographed and a few replays timely arrive to surprise. One finds here and there enemies really wicked, treacherous, and other pretty impressive, opportunities for combats in which the camera knows how to take the necessary perspective to spare us the rise of the wreath.
The story combines sorcery, and even integrates properly, and you can find some inspirations too – Tiger and Dragon – the way you move the characters.

The photograph is interesting. The camera lands on beautiful landscapes, peaks, hills, mists or stretches of sparkling water, tame as the lights of the rising sun, we will have the pleasure to behold, even if it breathes good synthetic. This film holds a hand of enchantment, is made of partitions poetic in which are reflected the strength of the Japanese spirit and the martial discipline of the Samurai…it’s beautiful, almost sweet…
But there is still an old taste of stale “David against Goliath”, the smell of the bottom of garbage can’t be cleaned with departures from a few places, mushrooms threatening.
The fabric of Hollywood production is repeated, and the spectator has to collect a few scenes WTF, predictable and conventional. In this film, is the kind who wins, by default this will be moral, it is as it is and not otherwise. It would almost make us live the dream of the perfect Samurai, but Keanu Reeves is struggling to crack the screen, the fault of the script, because of his interpretation that employs the matrix of a role he knows to perfection…and all of a sudden it is said that the strange smell in the beginning, maybe it was really his.
He donned the costume of “blood mixed”, a little bastard hated that must always bow down before the respectable Samurai, however, the hero did not put the knee on the ground we are already seeing glimpses of his romance with the daughter of the chief. Love, as dubbed, and the ultimate recognition that all will give him to the end. The camera carefully avoids his torso, the salient angles since – Matrix are rounded…the good Keanu obviously flirts with the pleasures of the palate and not gluttons not only sushi.
